Review by hotel critic
During our recent stay at the Greyhound in Warslow, my wife and I, along with our two dogs, found a delightful balance of comfort and affordability. Nestled near the Peak District, it’s an excellent base for outdoor enthusiasts like us. The pub maintains that charming country vibe, offering a range of local ales alongside an impressive menu. We opted for a dog-friendly room, which was spacious enough for our Labrador and terrier. With amenities like an electric kettle, ample coffee and tea, and cozy tub chairs, it provided us the essentials for a comfortable stay. The en-suite featured a hot, powerful shower, which was much appreciated after a long day of hiking. Breakfast is included, and I must highlight the satisfaction of a hearty English breakfast, made from local ingredients. The bar lounge area encouraged casual conversations, particularly with owner Lee, whose insights about nearby attractions were invaluable. When weighing luxury versus value, the Greyhound certainly delivers. It’s not just the affordable rates but the sense of hospitality that sets it apart, making it an ideal choice for anyone exploring Derbyshire. We will certainly consider returning on our next adventure.
